Why One Bike Shop says Ladies Nights are Needed

Are bike shops 'testosterone-only' zones? Some women feel that way, and point to a couple of indicators.

Just take a look: more men behind the counters, more men shopping. And the second sign that biking might be a guy thing? The dearth of women's wear. Some bike shops say they know this is a problem, but add that the women simply don't add to their bottom line when it comes to clothing, and that it doesn't pay to stock stuff that doesn't sell.

But some bike shops are trying to shift gears. Revolution Cycles, with shops in Maryland, DC and Virginia, is hosting 'Ladies Nights'. I visited the Georgetown shop where Katie Knight is General Manager and asked her: in the 21st century, do we really need 'Ladies Nights'? She jokingly replied yes, because every night is guy's night..and then we talked some more.
